Welcome to my first blog!

Hello, and welcome to my first blog! I'm very excited about writing my blog so bear with me while I get used to it.

In this first post we will talk a little bit about me and what I have planned for the future posts.

This, I'm hoping, will be a fun, informative and enjoyable place for you to come and share my knowledge with all things horsey. For future posts, I will try to do product tests, write about current issues or discuss recent events, highlights, or include something written by our sponsored riders.

Hi, I'm Sianne, I have been riding on and off since I was 2/3 years old and have owned horses for almost 20 years!

I have worked on many yards, doing all sorts from eventing to pony club and stud work. When I was 17/18 I completed my Apprenticeship and NVQs on a stud yard working with some high-level dressage horses and assisting with the stud work and the birthing of foals, which was my favorite part of the job. It was here I learnt a great deal about the other side of horses and what hard work actually meant. Long hours, 6 days a week and living in a shared house with three other people. It was a big shock from school and my normal few hours up the local riding center helping out at the weekend or during school holidays. I have worked on an eventing yard, having lessons, going training with the rider and going to competitions and learning the tricks of the trade on how to turn the horse out looking spotless. I learnt a lot in the time I was there, early mornings, late nights, LOTS of tack cleaning, mucking out, tacking horses and warming them up for the rider.

I have competed, only at local level unaffiliated events but now I'm mainly a happy hacker, (when my horse decides not to load).

Horses are now a hobby of mine rather than working on a yard with them, I get far more enjoyment out of them now than I did when working with them. I would love to go into the realms of in-hand showing next.

My first 'real' pony was a neglected rescue from a local village.

We called him Mr Polo as we didn't know his name, he liked polos and was grey, so it seemed right. He was a very sweet and gentle soul, who everyone loved when they met him. We didn't know too much about his past but was determined to give him the best last years where he didn't want for anything. Being over 30 at the time, we weren't sure how long he had but 7 years later we said our sad goodbyes.

I had a little break after this where I tried other jobs and lifestyles, which just didn't suit me out of the horse world. Safe to say, it didn't last long, so fast forward to today. I have a full-time job, own two horses and one sheep, two cats and work in the shop with any spare time I have. I manage the sponsored riders and the social media accounts advertising the business, keeping up to date with new products that come to market, product testing, and helping with anything else I can.

My main role in the shop is the knowledge of feed and nutrition, first aid or riding. It's amazing what you hold in your brain without realising it. I do love interacting with the customers, getting to know them and also their four-legged friends. I think having some knowledge about the customers and their horses gives another level to my customer services that you just don't get elsewhere. We look at ourselves and the shop as a community rather than just a shop, some people come in for a bag of horse feed and a good old natter.

I think that's enough about me for now, if you want to learn more about my horses or sheep then please do visit the 'meet the team' page where you can read more about them.

If there is anything you would like to read about or learn here, then please let me know and I will do my best to get something out for you.

To contact us, we have a Facebook page that you can message me on, or you can use the contact us page on the website.

Thanks for reading, I look forward to hearing from you or meeting you soon.
